Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A project on developing field of titanium-magnetite ore Tebinbulak field in Karakalpakstan with the cost of about US$3 billion will be prepared by the end of 2014, RIA Novosti reported quoting source in Uzbek Metallurgy Combine.
The source said that the technical proposal on developing preliminary feasibility study of the project and the combine can approve its final parameters. The project on development of Tebinbulak field, which contains titanium-magnetite iron ores, envisages construction of mining complex with capacities of 14.7 million tonnes of ore a year with production of titanium and vanadium. The field was opened in 1937. Forecasted resource base of the field is 3.5 billion tonnes of ore.
Due to high investment expenses, the field was not developed till now. The project was rehabilitated in order to create own resource base of Uzmetkombinat, which produces over 90% of products of ferrous metallurgy. The field can provide raw materials for several ten years to the combine.
