New EU-fund project starts in Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A project “Investments into regions as foundation for competitiveness of the government”, financed by the European Union, starts its work in Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan.
A presentation of the project on assistance to development of investment activities of the region was held in Tashkent on 14 March 2014.
Coordinator of the project Dildora Tajibaeva underlined that the project is directed at improving business climate and stimulate regional economical integration through raising capacity of small and medium business in Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan, as well as strengthening potential of organizations on support of businesses in their development.
She said that the project will be implemented within two years under general guidance of consulting center ZUBR (Kazakhstan) in partnership with the Center for Entrepreneurship and Executive Development (Bulgaria) and Center for Economic Development (Uzbekistan) at financial support of the European Union at the size of 418,681 euros.
In 2014, the project plans to hold several events on research and applied character, including social surveys, training progammes for small and medium businesses and service organizations, consultations with participation of the state bodies, consulting companies and microcredit organizations.
Tadjibaeva said that main beneficiary of the project are small enterprises, working in sector of processing agriculture products and agro-business, which is one of key sectors of economy, requiring investments. The events will focus on improving access of small and medium businesses to financing, improve investment policies of the regions and promote private interests.
It is expected that the project will contribute to conducted state measures directed at further developing small businesses in rural areas and further expanding opportunities of infrastructure to help to business development. This in its turn will help to improve well-being of population in rural areas and assist to sustainable economic growth.
Dildora Tadjibaeva said the project will cover five regions of Uzbekistan – Bukhara, Syrdarya, Kashkadarya, Jizzakh and Samarkand regions.
