Astrakhan region interested in expanding cooperation with Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Business circles of Astrakhan are interested in establishing cooperation with enterprises and economic structures of Uzbekistan, Minister on international and foreign economic relations of Astrkhan region of Russia Denis Afanasev told Jahon news agency.
He said that foreign trade turnover between Russian region and Uzbekistan in 2013 rose ten times. The exports of goods from Uzbekistan to Astrakha rose almost 12 times to US$6 million.
He underlined that currently 11 enterprises with Uzbek capital are successfully operating in the Russian region such areas as construction, services and agriculture.
Denis Afanasev said that mutual beneficial cooperation between Astrakhan and Uzbekistan are developing gradually. He said that representatives of two sides are holding regular meetings to discuss perspective directions of cooperation such as agro-industrial complex, agriculture, textile and transport sectors.
Afanasev said that the region is aware that Uzbekistan is rich with ancient and unique historic and architectural monuments, which attract large number of tourists, including from Astrakhan region.
Minister said that currently universities and secondary-special educational establishments offer education for the Uzbek citizens in various directions. He noted that the educational establishments are ready to cooperate with their Uzbek colleagues to help to train and re-train specialists.
Denis Afanasev added that business circles of Astrakhan are interested in establishing cooperation with enterprises and economic structures of Uzbekistan, which possess intensive growing potential.
