Tashkent hosts seminar on reforming judicial-legal system

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Executive Committee of Political Council of Liberal Democratic Party of Uzbekistan (UzLiDeP) and Tashkent State Law University held a conference dedicated to efficiency of reforming judicial-legal system, based on the Concept of further deepening democratic reforms and forming civil society in the country, proposed by President in 2010.
At the event, it was underlined that reforms in judicial-legal system are directed at ensuring rule of law and protection of human rights and interests.
In line with the Concept, Uzbekistan carried out gradual work on further reforming judicial-legal system, strengthening independence of courts to ensure development of democratic society and rule of law, protection of human rights and interests. It was stated that the measures on judicial control in criminal cases was introduced and Habeas Corpus institute was expanded.
President of Uzbekistan signed decrees on organizational measures on improving social protection of workers of judicial system, improving and raising efficiency of activities of district and city courts of general jurisdiction, etc.
In 2013, Tashkent State Law Institute was reorganized into Tashkent State Law University in line with the resolution of the President, which was directed at reforming and improving legal education in Uzbekistan.
One of the important tasks of the UzLiDeP is to organize a systematic work on improving social activity of youth, ensuring opportunities for their professional, creative and career growth, attracting youth to business activities. The party conducts systematic work in this direction and organizes various projects to support youth.
Currently, the important task is implementation of the measures directed at forming youth specialists with high intellectual potential, who can contribute to development of the country and create necessary conditions for their professional, creative and career growth.
It was underlined that it is important to pay attention to systematic support of social active and gifted youth, use their proposals in law-making process, etc.
Within the conference, the participants considered issues related to important institutes of the Criminal Law, Criminal-Procedural Law, Criminalistics, as well as their development. At the event, the participants also considered proposals on improving legislation of Uzbekistan, discuss latest trends in development of criminal legislation, experience in the sphere, ensure rule of law and other issues.
At the end of the conference, the sides agreed to hold joint measures on expanding participation of young scholars in reforms in judicial-legal system of Uzbekistan.
