Samarkand to host intl conference on historical heritage of scientists

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Samarkand will host an international conference on the historical heritage of scientists and thinkers of the Medieval East, its role and significance for the modern civilization on 15-16 May 2014.
The conference is to be held in accordance with the 1 April 2014 resolution of President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov.
It is expected that scholars from 50 countries will participate in the event. Among them will be representatives of the the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, Japan, the Republic of Korea, Italy, China, India, Saudi Arabia, Russia, Kuwait, Azerbaijan, Indonesia and Egypt. Representatives of international organizations, research centers and institutions will also participate in the event.
The international academic conference will address the historic legacy of scientists and thinkers of the medieval East and its role and significance in the contemporary civilization.
The forum participants will discuss and exchange views and expertise on issues concerning the scientific, historical and philosophical heritage of the academics and thinkers of the medieval East, their immense contribution to the formation and development of astronomy, mathematics, geography, geodesy, medicine, pharmacology, chemistry, mineralogy and other sciences.
The participants will also watch films about life and work of scholars and thinkers of the medieval Orient, their historical legacy and the activities of academic schools. The attendees will familiarize with historical, academic and cultural monuments of Samarkand, the creative and beautification works carried out during the independence years, as well as the activities of education institutions.
