Uzbekistan and Japan hold consultations on cooperation within ODA programme

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A delegation of Japan led by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Uzbekistan Fumihiko Kato has held talks at the Ministry of Foreign Economic Relations, Investment and Trade of Uzbekistan (MFERIT) on 21 April, the Uzbek ministry said.
During the meeting, the sides considered actual issues of bilateral cooperation and exchanged opinion and proposals on strengthening control and monitoring over implementation of joint projects and programmes in Uzbekistan due to recent reports in Japanese media on corruptions within the international projects of ODA in foreign states.
The sides agreed to hold joint measures to speed up objective consideration of actual issues of cooperation, including via information exchange.
In case of revealing corruption cases within the ODA programme, the sides expressed readiness to take serious measures against the guilty persons in line with the national legislation and agreed to develop a complex of concrete measures.
