GEO-NET to evaluate wind power potential of Uzbekistan
He said that Germany’s GEO-NET Umweltconsulting GmbH will carry out valuation of wind power potential of Uzbekistan in 2014-2015.
He said that the German firm and Uzbekenergosigned a contract for conducting research on wind power potential of Uzbekistan in six regions of Uzbekistan. The research will be conducted to identify possibility of the industrial production of electricity at average wind gusts of 100 meters per second.
He said that the research will start in summer of 2014 and last till mid of 2015. The German side will spend another six months to analyze received data. Based on results of the work of GEO-NET, Uzbekistan will start to develop feasibility study on creation of fleet of wind power facilities. The capacities of the facilities will be determined after the research.
As earlier reported, Uzbekenergo plans to construct the fleet of wind power facilities with the cost of about US$200 million till 2020. It is planned to construct wind power generators (2-3 megawatt) with total designed capacities from 50 to 100 megawatt in perspective territories.
The most favourable districts for creation of fleet of wind power facilities are Bukhara, Navoi, Kashkadarya and Tashkent regions and Karakalpakstan.
