Uzbek-Chinese political consultations take place in Beijing

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The twelfth round of the Uzbek-Chinese political consultations between Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan and China was held in Beijing on 11 July 2014.
During the meeting, the sides considered current state and perspectives of deepening relations in political, trade-economic, investment, cultural-humanitarian and other areas, implementation of agreements, reached at the meeting of the President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov and President of China Xi Jinping in September 2013.
The sides underlined with satisfaction that relations between Uzbekistan and China are developing dynamically. It was said that mutual trade turnover made up US$5.2 billion, which grew by 55% year-on-year, the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan said.
Construction of tunnel with the length of 19 km at railroad Angren-Pap is conducted with participation of the Chinese side. The railway will ensure uninterrupted transportation links between the regions of Uzbekistan and at the regional level. The sides are implementing mutual beneficial projects in various areas, including at Jizzakh special industrial zone.
It was said that the sides are interested in establishing and developing direct relations between scientific institutions and educational establishments, cultural and art organizations between Uzbekistan and China.
At the meeting, the sides considered preparations to upcoming political contacts, draft bilateral agreements and documents in various levels.
The sides also exchanged opinion on international and regional issues.
On the same day, next session of sub-committee on cooperation in security sphere of the Uzbek-Chinese intergovernmental committee on cooperation was held in Beijing.
