Indian envoy pays visit to MFERIT

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 11 July, at the Ministry of Foreign Economic Relations, Investments and Trade of Uzbekistan was held a meeting with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of India to the Republic of Uzbekistan Anumula Gitesh Sarma in connection with the completion of his diplomatic mission in Uzbekistan.
During the meeting were discussed issues of bilateral trade, economic and investment cooperation.
The Uzbek side expressed its appreciation to Ambassador of India for active and productive activity on strengthening the strategic partnership between the two countries.
In 2013, the volume of trade turnover between Republic of Uzbekistan and Republic of India increased by 29% and amounted to US$259.5 million, including export - US$42.2 million, import - US$217.3 million. In January-May of this year volume of bilateral trade grew by 8.4% and amounted to US$114 million, including exports – US$18 million and import – US$96 million.
Some 72 enterprises with the participation of Indian investments, 10 of which with 100% foreign capital, operate in Uzbekistan. At the Ministry of Foreign Economic Relations, Investments and Trade of were accredited representatives of 20 companies of India.
