SCO FMs to discuss preparations to SCO leaders’ summit

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A session of the Council of the Foreign Ministers of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) will hold session in Dushanbe, Tajikistan, on 30-31 July 2014.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia said that upcoming meeting will be key stage to preparation to the summit of the SCO leaders. They will discuss draft documents, which will be considered at the SCO leaders’ summit.
The participants will discuss joint approaches of the SCO member states to further development of the organization, coordinated assessment of situation in the world and region, which will be included to Dushanbe declaration and information statement.
The ministers will consider a new edition of standard memorandum on liabilities of the state, which applied to membership of the SCO and order of providing status of the SCO member state. It is expected that the document will be discussed at the SCO leaders’ summit.
In 2013, the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the SCO member states were ordered to develop a strategy for SCO development till 2025. The base draft of the strategy was developed by Russian side and presented to the partners to study.
The ministers will also discuss a joint decision on celebration of the 70th anniversary of victory over fascism in the World War II. The member states of the SCO will organize various joint events, including conferences and seminars.
The SCO Foreign Ministers will also discuss regional and international issues, including situation in Ukraine and Afghanistan, Middle East, Syria and Iranian nuclear programme.
