CIS Statistics Committee: Uzbekistan leads on industrial output growth in 1H

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan led on the growth of industrial production among the CIS states in the first half of 2014, the CIS Statistics Committee said.
The committee said that the growth of industrial output in Uzbekistan made up 8.1% year-on-year in the first half of 2014.
Industrial production in Kyrgyzstan grew by 7.2% in the reporting period, Moldavia – 4.2% (in January-May), Tajikistan – 2.9% and Russia – 1.5%.
Armenia’s industrial growth was equal to zero in the first half of 2014. The industrial production declined by 4.7% in Ukraine.
Industrial production also dropped in Kazakhstan (-0.4%), Belarus (-1%) and Azerbaijan (-2.4%). The committee said it has no data for Turkmenistan.
In average industrial output in the CIS area rose by 0.7% in January-June 2014, transportation – 1.4%, retail trade turnover – 3.5% and investments into fixed capital slipped by 2.1%.
The highest inflation rate was recorded in Ukraine (11.6%) and Belarus (10.2%). Inflation in Kyrgyzstan was 5.9% in January-June 2014, Russia and Kazakhstan – 4.8% each and Tajikistan – 4.5%, as well as Moldavia – 2.2%.
Prices fell in Armenia by 0.9% and Azerbaijan – by 1.3%. The committee added that it has no data on inflation for Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan.
