GM Uzbekistan to complete second stage of project on transfer of Damas production

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- GM Uzbekistan is planning to complete the second stage of the project on organization of production of Damas cars at Khorezm Automobile Production Union in September 2014, Pravda Vostoka newspaper reported.
The first stage of the project was completed in the first quarter of 2014. The designed capacity of the plant is 40,000 mini-vans a year. The volume of investment to transfer of capacities is US$55.5 million.
The enterprise earlier produced Damas mini-vans in Asaka, Andian region. The transfer of capacities is connected with expansion of production of cars at GM Uzbekistan.
Senior production engineer of GM Uzbekistan Hasanboy Kasimov said that it was planned to complete the first stage in the first quarter of 2014, but it was ended in February 2014. He said that the second stage should be completed in the fourth quarter of 2014, but the pace of work will allow to implement it by September 2014.
Within the first stage, the assembly lines of Damas production were created at Khorezm Automobile Production Union LLC. Within the second stage, it is planned to transfer enterprise to full circle of Damas car production. The second stage will be completed in the fourth quarter of 2014.
Asaka-based GM Uzbekistan started to produce Damas microbuses in March 1996. In 2006, the plant launched production of modernized version of Damas.
