Muscat to host second session of Uzbek-Omani intergovernmental commission

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The second session of the Uzbek-Omani intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation will be held in Muscat in September 2014, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Oman to Uzbekistan Mohammed bin Said al Lawati said.
Within the session, it is planned to hold business forum of entrepreneurs of Oman and Uzbekistan, the diplomat said.
He underlined that the forum will discuss issues of directing Omani investments into various sectors of economy of Uzbekistan, creating joint ventures and other themes of cooperation. Uzbekistan and Oman in cooperation with Iran, Qatar and Turkmenistan are creating new transport corridor, which will help to foreign trade and economic development of the region.
Currently, Uzbekistan and Oman formed firm foundation for normative-legal base of cooperation in various areas. In particular, the sides signed agreement on avoiding double taxation and preventing evasion from payment of income and capital taxes between Uzbekistan and Oman and agreement on encouraging and mutual protection of investments between Uzbekistan and Oman.
