Uzbek President arrives in Dushanbe

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov arrived in Dushanbe, Tajikistan, on 11 September 2014.
Uzbek leader arrived in Tajikistan to participate in next session of the Council of the heads of member-states of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO).
Islam Karimov was welcomed by Prime Minister of Tajikistan Kohir Rasulzoda, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan Sirodjidin Aslov, as well as other officials.
Heads of the member states of the SCO will discuss perspectives of further improving activities of the organization, issues of ensuring regional security, boosting economic and investment cooperation, cooperating in transport-communication sphere and other issues of mutual interest.
The Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) is a permanent intergovernmental international organisation creation of which was proclaimed on 15 June 2001 in Shanghai (China) by the Republic of Kazakhstan, the People’s Republic of China, the Kyrgyz Republic, the Russian Federation, the Republic of Tajikistan and the Republic of Uzbekistan.
India Iran, Mongolia and Pakistan have observer status at the SCO. Belarus, Turkey and Sri Lanka are dialogue partners of the SCO.
