Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 11 September, President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov held negotiations with the Presidents of Iran and Tajikistan in Dushanbe, Tajikistan, on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit.
Uzbek leader held negotiations with President of Iran Hassan Rouhani. The two presidents reviewed the latest regional and international developments, as well as perspectives of cooperation in transport communications and others.
At the talks with the President of Tajikistan Emomali Rakhmom, the sides considered issues of friendship relations and many-sided cooperation between two states.
Uzbek and Tajik leaders expressed interest in strengthening and developing friendly and good-neighborhood relations, which were formed during past years.
It was underlined that trade turnover between two states fell from US$300 million in 2007 to US$2.1 million in 2014. The sides noted that trade turnover between Uzbekistan and Tajikistan could reach US$500 million, taking into account existing potential of two states.
During the meeting, the leaders expressed their assurance that existing difficulties and barriers on development of mutual relations can be eliminated.
