EBRD: Uzbekistan’s economy to grow by 7.5% in 2014

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) kept its forecast on economic growth of Uzbekistan for 2014, the report “Regional Economic Prospects in EBRD Countries of Operations” said.
According to the report, the gross domestic product (GDP) of Uzbekistan will grow by 7.5% in 2014. The forecast did not change compared to May forecast of the bank.
In line with forecast of the EBRD experts, the growth of economy of Uzbekistan will make up 7.6% in 2015.
The bank’s experts said that the inflation level in Uzbekistan will make up 11.4% in 2014 against 11.2% in 2013.
EBRD said that situation in Russia will impact economic development of Uzbekistan and Central Asian states. The bank said that the volume of remittances from Russia to Uzbekistan decreased in the first quarter of 2014, which can negatively impact the country.
However, it is worth to mention the volume of money transfer from Russia to Uzbekistan grew by 1.83% year-on-year to US$1.787 billion in the second quarter of 2014.
