Draft law on passenger transportation discussed

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A roundtable dedicated to discussion of a draft law “On mandatory insurance of civil liability of transporters” was discussed in Tashkent.
As reported earlier, the Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis passed the law in the first reading.
The draft law “On mandatory insurance of civil liability of transporters” was developed in line with the programme of measures on further developing of microfinancing and off-banking financial sector of Uzbekistan for 2011-2015.
Currently, insurance for damage to health of passengers is ensured with the law of Uzbekistan “On mandatory personal insurance of passengers of air, railway, internal water and automobile transport of general use”. The study of the law shows that it does not meets modern requirements.
New draft law will regulate relations in mandatory insurance of the civil responsibility of transporters for damaging health, life and property of passengers. The document clearly sets requirements to objects and subjects of mandatory insurance, as well as to transporters and insurers.
All passenger transporting companies will have to insure their liabilities before the passengers in line with the draft law.
The main idea of the draft law is to guarantee compensation for damage via insurance of the civil liability of the transporters.
It was said that adoption of the law will play key role in full implementation of rights and interests of the citizens.
The participants shared their proposals and recommendations on further improving the draft law.
