WIUT holds Graduation Ceremony

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 10 October 2014, Westminster International University in Tashkent (WIUT) celebrated the tenth, anniversary Graduation Ceremony. This year, 189 bachelor’s and master’s graduates were congratulated by their parents, fellow students, staff and the faculty of the university.
According to the tradition, the Graduation Ceremony was held in the spacious auditorium of the WIUT Hall. As is well known, every British university has its own academic clothes featuring its special colours. Dressed in robes bordered in blue and green, the graduates were presented to the WIUT Rector Abdumalik Djumanov and the official representative of the University of Westminster (London) Professor Erica Morgan-Tamosunas.
Westminster International University in Tashkent was established by the initiative of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan in 2002 and became the country’s pioneer institution in the sphere of international education. Nowadays, as one of the seven international higher education institutions of the country, WIUT provides study programs in English language in such areas as management, economics, information technology and commercial law.
This year the university admitted more than 800 new students, the total number of enrolled students reaching over 2 000. The university is unique in that it pays great attention to all-round development of students by actively engaging them in various cultural and social events, sports tournaments, which often attract public attention outside the walls of the institution.
Last year, as a result of comprehensive measures to improve the country’s youth’s access to the international higher education, with the support of the Government of the Republic of Uzbekistan, WIUT built and put into operation a new Teaching Block with spacious audiences equipped with modern ICT tools, multi-purpose Sports Complex and a new Learning Resource Centre. Beginning with the 2015-2016 Academic Year, the university plans to expand its portfolio of educational services with the introduction of new programs in areas of "Electronic Engineering", "Finance", "International Economics", "Business Intelligence", "Management Education" and "Methods of Teaching English".
