Uzbekistan creates 2,400 hectares of new gardens

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan created new gardens at 2,400 hectares in nine months of 2014, intensive gardens – 5,600 hectares and vineyards – 8,900 hectares, the Ministry of Economy and State Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan said.
In nine months of 2014, Uzbekistan sowed vegetables to 255,800 hectares, potatoes at 81,500 hectares and melons and gourds – 57,100 hectares.
The country reconstructed 4,100 hectares of gardens and 6,100 hectares of vineyards. About 750 greenhouses were created at 410 hectares.
In nine months of 2014, Uzbekistan produced 6.7 million tonnes of vegetables (+11.4%), 1.9 million tonnes of potatoes(+11%), 1.2 million tonnes of melons and gourds (+9.3%), 1.7 million tonnes of fruits (+11.5%) and 991,600 tonnes of grapes (+9.3%).
Uzbekistan created reserve for winter, which included 74,200 tonnes of food products, including 11,300 tonnes of potatoes, 24,300 tonnes of onions, 2,800 tonnes of carrots, 1,230 tonnes of carbide, 24,000 tonnes of fruits, 4,300 tonnes of melons and gourds, 4,200 tonnes of rice and others.
The country implemented over 2,000 projects on developing cattle with total cattle number of 53,000 heads, and 788 projects on developing poultry with 10.3 million heads of birds, and 747 projects on developing fish sector and 828 projects on developing beekeeping.
The commercial banks issued loans for 185 billion soums to development of cattle breeding, 85.5 billion soums to creation of poultry industry and 15.2 billion soums to development of fishing and beekeeping.
In the result, number of cattle rose by 4.1% to 10.9 million heads, production of meat grew by 6.8%, milk – 7% and eggs – 12.3%.
