Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- An opening ceremony of Scientific-research Center “Silk Road and Central Asia was held at Keimyung University in Daegu, South Korea.
The center’s main task is to study historic heritage of Great Silk Road and contribution of the Central Asian states to its development.
The opening ceremony was dedicated to international conference on Silk Road, in work of which scientists from countries along Great Silk Road participated, Jahon news agency reported.
A delegation of Uzbekistan, including representatives of the University of World Economy and Diplomacy, Science Academy and Banking-Financial Academy, participated in the event.
President of Keimyung University Synn Ilhi in his welcoming speech underlined that the center’s main goal is to study historic experience of Great Silk Road. He noted that studying Silk Road and Central Asia will help to reveal important role of ancient trade route and promote cooperation among the states of the region.
The delegation of Uzbekistan presented information on cultural exchanges among the Silk Road states, its role in improving relations of people, exchange of ideas and knowledge, mutual enrichment of languages and cultures, etc.
Contribution of Samarkand, Khiva and Tashkent to development of Great Silk Road was also considered at the event.
At the conference, the participants agreed to establish close contacts with new research center to exchange information.
