Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Government of Uzbekistan and Gazprom will sign a production-sharing agreement (PSA) on development of the Jel gas and condensate field before 1 March 2015.
This was indicated in the protocol of the Russian-Uzbek intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation held in Tashkent on Wednesday.
During the session, the First Deputy Prime Minister of Uzbekistan Rustam Azimov said that the Government of Uzbekistan holds talks with Gazprom on preparation and signing of new PSA.
The commission called on national oil and gas holding Uzbekneftegaz and Gazprom to hold talks before 10 December 2014 to prepare for signing the Jel PSA, according the protocol of the meeting.
The commission also called on the governments to carry out internal procedures to pave the way for the PSA signing.
If the agreement signed, it will be the second PSA of Gazprom in Uzbekistan. In August 2014, Gazprom started to mine gas at Shakhpakhti field at Ustyurt with the designed capacity of 500 million cubic meters a year on PSA terms for 15 years.
The Jel field is located close to the Shakhpakhti field, which is being developed by Gazprom and has access to trunk gas pipelines, making development of Jel commercial viable.
Gazprom produced about 3 billion cubic meters of gas at Shakhpakhti field. The company mined 315 million cubic meters of gas in 2013, which rose by 5% compared to 2012. In 2014, the company plans to produce about 300 million cubic meters of gas.
