Central Asian officials discuss sustainable development

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A session of intergovernmental commission on sustainable development of the Central Asian countries was held in Dushanbe, Tajikistan, on 25-29 November 2014, information service of the State Nature Protection Committee of Uzbekistan said.
Members of the commission from Central Asian states, representatives of the UN bodies, WWF, OSCE, World Bank, Youth Ecologic Network and other participated in the meeting.
The session considered various issues, but main focus was directed at sustainable development of the region, development of green economy, proposals on waste management, environment protection, etc.
At the meeting, Turkmenistan received presidency in the intergovernmental commission on sustainable development for 2015-2016.
The delegation of Uzbekistan made several presentations on developing alternative sources of energy, energy-saving, nature-protection measures and others.
At the end of the meeting, the participants offered to develop a package of project proposals on green economy and development of renewable sources of energy in Central Asian and present it in next session of the commission.
