Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov held a telephone conversation with the President of Russia Vladimir Putin on 13 December 2014.
According to the press service of the Kremlin, the sides continued to discuss issues of bilateral and regional cooperation in context of the results of the recent official visit of Vladimir Putin to Uzbekistan.
President of Russia Vladimir Putin paid the official visit to Uzbekistan on 10 December. During the visit, Putin held negotiations with the resident of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov.
In the result of the talks, the Governments of Uzbekistan and Russian signed an intergovernmental agreement on the priority areas for developing and deepening economic cooperation in 2015-2019.
Uzbekistan and Russia also inked an agreement on regulating reciprocal financial claims and obligations. In line with the agreement, Russia will write-off US$865 million debt of Uzbekistan, while Uzbekistan will repay other art of the debt for US$25 million.
Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan and Russia signed a programme of cooperation for 2015.
A protocol between Federation Service of Russia on control over drug turnover and Ministry of Interior Affairs of Uzbekistan on exchange of results of researches on drugs and psychotropic means, seized from illegal turnover, was also inked.
