Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Siloviyi Machini open joint stock company (Russia) completed modernization of Syrdarya Thermal Power Station open joint stock company.
According to representative of Uzbekenergo, modernization of the station completed and launch of equipment for industrial load is planned to the end of the week.
The project cost was US$60.2 million and financed due to loan of the Fund for Reconstruction and Development of Uzbekistan and own resources of Uzbekenergo.
Siloviyi Machini and Uzbekenergo signed a contract for designing and installing equipment on “turnkey” bases for reconstruction of two power generating blocks with capacity of 300 megawatts each. After the reconstruction, the capacity of the station will grow by 50 megawatts.
Syrdarya Thermal Power Station was launched in 1981 with installed capacity of 3,000 megawatts (10 power generating blocks with capacity of 300 megawatt each. It annually produced 13 billion KWH of electricity, which makes up 32% of total energy produced in Uzbekistan.
