Uzbekistan starts to develop state programme “The Year of Attention and Care for Elder People”

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Government of Uzbekistan started to develop a state programme “The Year of Attention and Care for Elder People”, the press service of the Ministry of Labour and Social Welfare of Uzbekistan said.
President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov signed an order on development of the programme on 12 December 2014. The order created a commission on drafting and implementing the state programme.
The progamme should solve existing problems related to life of elder people, strengthen material and moral support to them. The programme should solve problems, which elder people are facing in their daily life and improve their life standards.
The order said that the programme should also focus on improving legislation, pension provision and social support of elder people, protection of their health, provide services to elder people, etc.
The programme should also envisage measures to entertain elder people and attract them to sports, provide tourism services.
The ministry said that the state bodies are developing their proposals, which could be included to the state programme. Public organizations and NGOs are also participating in the process of drafting the state programme.
