UzLiDeP receives OSCE/ODIHR mission

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Executive Committee of Political Council of the Liberal Democratic Party of Uzbekistan (UzLiDeP) hosted a meeting with a mission of the OSCE/ODIHR on observation of parliamentary elections led by Ambassador Daan Everts.
The mission included expert on political issues of the OSCE/ODIHR Vadim Jdanovich and expert on legal issues Enira Bronitskaya.
Chairperson of the Executive Committee of Political Council of the party Sodiqjon Turdiev briefed the mission on activities of the UzLiDeP, its goals and ideology, programme tasks, etc. the party officials briefed the mission on changes to electoral legislation.
At the meeting, the UzLiDeP officials provided information on selection of candidates to the MPs of Legislative Chamber from the party. It was noted that 135 nominees were selected from 2,000 people. The mission also received information on elections to Councils of People’s Deputies in places.
UzLiDeP officials also provided information on agitation of candidates and their meetings with the voters. It was underlined that some 8,900 observers appointed by the party to observe the election process.
Daan Everts underlined election legislation in Uzbekistan changed to positive way. He added that the competition in elections is better compared to previous elections.
The mission expressed gratitude to the meeting and wished success in upcoming elections.
