Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The 14th session of the Intergovernmental Commission on Bilateral Cooperation of Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan has been held in Tashkent today.
The meeting was attended by the Kazakh side - First Deputy Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Bakytzhan Sagintayev, the Uzbek side - First Deputy Prime Minister - Finance Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan Rustam Azimov.
Issues of bilateral trade and economic cooperation have been discussed. In particular, aspects of the Kazakh-Uzbek cooperation in the water and energy sector, agriculture, industrial and gas fields have been considered.
The sides called for further expansion of business partnership between the two countries, aimed at increasing mutual trade turnover.
Bakytzhan Sagintayev said it is necessary to implement orders of the Presidents of two countries and boost cooperation in expansion of nomenclature of goods, supplied to each other, which will increase bilateral trade.
Azimov underlined that Uzbekistan can provide preferential conditions to purchase of products of international brands, which are produced in the country.
At the end of the meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission a joint Protocol was signed.
The sides reached agreement to consider expansion of supply of ready products in the first quarter of 2015. The countries also plant to expand cargo air transportation and increase the volume of passenger transportation.
According to the Uzbek statistics, turnover between Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan rose by 18% year-on-year to US$3.244 billion in 2013.
In ten months of 2014, trade turnover rose by over 25% and exceeded US$3.1 billion. Kazakhstan is among three largest trade partners of Uzbekistan with the share of 14.4% in total foreign trade turnover (Russia is the first with share of 27%).
Uzbekistan exported gas, food and chemical products to Kazakhstan in 2014. Kazakhstan imported from Uzbekistan such products as food, ferrous and non-ferrous metals, and chemical products.
Currently, Uzbekistan has 180 enterprises with participation of Kazakh capital, including 152 are joint ventures and 28 enterprises with 100% foreign capital.
Some four companies from Kazakhstan were accredited at the Ministry of Foreign Economic, Investment and Trade of Uzbekistan.
