New solar station issues electricity to Uzbekistan’s energy network

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- First solar photoelectric power station has been commissioned in Uzbekistan, which issued electricity to energy network of the country, the Ministry of Economy of Uzbekistan said in a statement.
The solar photoelectric power station has been launched in Pap district of Namangan region, eastern Uzbekistan.
According to Ministry of Economy, it signed a memorandum of understanding on development of cooperation in solar energy with the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy of the Republic of Korea on 19 December 2013.
Within the state visit of the President of South Korea to Uzbekistan, two ministries signed a memorandum of cooperation on construction of testing solar photoelectric power station with the capacity of 130 kilowatt with use of advanced Korean technologies due to grant worth US$700,000.
In order to implement the agreements, Uzbekenergo in cooperation with International Solar Energy Institute and Korean specialists studied perspective sites for constriction of the station. In the result, a 0.32 hectare territory near Kandigon village in Pap district of Namangan region was selected.
In line with project documentation, presented by the Korean side, Uzbekenergo carried out general construction works at the site and construction works due to own resources. Korean companies Hanhwa, JSPV, S-Energy and TopSum delivered solar panels of various modifications and other necessary equipment.
After construction, assembly and test works, the station generated electricity and issued it the energy system of Uzbekistan on 9 December 2014.
Launch of the station will allow to improve electricity supply of Kandigon neighborhood and receive data to implement wide-scale projects on construction of solar power stations in Uzbekistan, as well as test Korean equipment and learn Korean experience in this area.
