Tashkent region implements projects for US$2.3bn

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Tashkent region of Uzbekistan is planning to implement projects for US$2.3 billion within the programme on development of industrial potential of the region for 2013-2015.
President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov signed a resolution “On programme on development of industrial potential of Tashkent region for 2013-2015” on 12 July 2013.
Initially, the programme envisaged realization of 302 investment projects for US$2.2 billion. But in the result of active work with investors, the changes were introduced to the programme. Now it is planned to implement 356 projects for US$2.3 billion within the programme, Pravda Vostoka reported.
Head of department of main division of economy of Tashkent region Laziz Azamhujaev said that the industrial output of the region will grow by 24.3% by 2015 compared to 2012 and will reach 8.825 trillion soums due to attraction of investments for US$2.3 billion, including foreign direct investments – US$691.5 million.
Works are conducted in such spheres as oil, chemistry, mining, metallurgy, and machinery industries. Almalyk Mining and Metallurgy Combine is implementing 15 projects, while Ammofos-Maxam will launch production of NPK-fertilizers. It will also modernize capacities on production of phosphorus fertilizers. The founders of the enterprise will direct US$8.6 million.
Uzmetkombinat, Uzbekugol, Bekabadcement and other enterprises are implementing investment projects, the paper added.
