Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan Muslims Board condemned publication of cartoons of Prophet Mohammed in the magazine Charlie Hebdo (France).
“What today is called democracy, does not allow one group of people mock the feelings of others, especially when it comes to religion. Demonstrations and rallies, raids against Christian churches, Muslims mosques, houses of ordinary people is a direct consequence of manifestations of lack of respect for the feelings of Muslims,” Uzbekistan Muslims Board said in its statement.
The statement said that the most terrible and tragic is the death of innocent people, who have nothing to do with these events. Unfortunately, Western countries did not take lesson from similar events, which occurred several years ago, the board noted.
“Any disrespect to religious sites, regardless of religion, blasphemy, disrespect, mockery of the name of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) is unacceptable, creation and distribution of cartoons carries the spirit of incitement, which leads to conflicts between members of different religious faiths, nations and peoples, sowing discord and enmity,” the board noted.
