Korean companies to construct two power units at Tupolang HPS

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A consortium of Korean companies Hyundai Engineering & Construction and Daewoo International signed a contract with Uzvodenergo for construction of two power units at Tupolang hydro power station in Surkhandarya region.
RIA Novosti reported quoting source at Daewoo International, the sides signed agreement in the result of tender, announced by Uzvodenergo in middle of 2014.
The sum of the contract is about US$80 million. In line with contact terms, the constortium will construct two power units with 72.5 megawatt each.
The contact should be implemented within 45 months. Within the project, the station will be able to produce up to 430 million KWH of electricity a year.
The project with the cost of US$178 million (which also envisages expansion of waterworks facility of the station” will be financed due to state budget and resources of Uzvodenergo.
Uzvodenergo commissioned the first line of Tupolang hydro power station with the cost of about US$30 million in 2016. The capacity of two power units makes up 30 megawatt, which allows to produce 63 million KWH of electricity a year. Russia’s Siloviyi Mashini delivered equipment to the station.
