Foreign Ministries of Uzbekistan and Finland hold consultations

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 25 February 2015, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan held the sixth round of the Uzbek-Finnish political consultations.
The delegation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs the Republic of Finland, headed by Terhi Hakala, the Director General of the Department for Russia, Eastern Europe and Central Asia, arrived in Tashkent to participate in the consultations, the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan said.
The current state and prospects of cooperation were discussed. The sides exchanged views on the international and regional problems.
The sides underlined the positive trends in the development of bilateral relations. It was expressed a mutual interest in enhancing inter-parliamentary contacts, deepening trade and economic relations, first of all, by bringing Finnish experience and high technologies to the economy of Uzbekistan.
It was emphasized that there is mutually beneficial character in implementing joint projects in the electrical, chemical, light and food industries in different regions of Uzbekistan, including on the basis of free economic zones "Navoi", "Angren” and "Jizzakh", where tax and customs facilities are created for foreign investors.
Special attention was paid to the issues of cooperation in the cultural-humanitarian sphere.
Ambassador of Finland Niklas Lindqvist attended the talks.
