Uzbekistan attract German investments, loans for US$2.8bn

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A delegation of Uzbekistan led by the First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance of Uzbekistan Rustam Azimov visited Berlin, Germany, on 23-26 February 2015.
The main goal of the visit was to participate in the first session of the German-Uzbek Business Council and study advanced experience of German companies in corporative management and opportunities to introduce it in Uzbekistan.
The founders of the German-Uzbek Business Council are 50 leading companies and banks of Germany, including MAN, Airbus, Claas, Knauf, Lemken, ThyssenKrupp, Commerzbank, Deutsche Kabel and others. Over 250 representatives of leading German industrial companies and banks attended the first session of the Council, which was held on 25 February.
At the session of the business council, current state and trends of economic development of Uzbekistan, as well as perspective projects of leading industries were presented to the participants.
Speaking at the forum, German business circles underlined dynamic development of economy of Uzbekistan, deepening of structural reforms, creation of new high technological industries, creation of favourable investment climate and opportunities for successful investment activities.
The programme of structural reforms, modernization and diversification of industry of Uzbekistan for upcoming years, the programme for development of infrastructure, presented at the forum, attracted attention of Germany companies with its scale and focus to create competitive and export-oriented production capacities.
The Government and leading companies of Germany are planning to actively support German-Uzbek Business Council and expand their presence in Uzbekistan. Representatives of German companies expanded huge potential for expansion of investment, trade and financial relations between Uzbekistan and Germany.
The delegation of Uzbekistan also studied experience of large concerns and companies of Germany in the sphere of corporate management and analyzed German system with systems in other states.
Within the visit, Uzbekistan signed an agreement with the European Management and Technologies Institute, located in Berlin. The document envisages organization of short-term courses on corporate management for Uzbek specialists in Uzbekistan, as well as their internship in German companies.
In the result of the visit, the delegation signed a package of investment, credit agreements and trade contracts with total cost of implemented projects and attracted German loans for US$2.8 billion in chemical, machinery, electronic, textile and food industries, production of new construction materials, and other directions.
The delegation of Uzbekistan also met with Vice-Chancellor and Federal Minister for Economic Affairs and Energy Sigmar Gabriel. During the negotiations, the sides considered current state and perspectives of further expansion of bilateral cooperation in trade-economic, investment and financial spheres.
