UNDP assists in increasing exports of Uzbek textile products

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The participation of the Uzbekistan’s companies at ‘Textillegprom’ 44th Federal Trade Fair in Moscow was marked by reaching agreements for export contracts worth more than $13 million, increasing the number of business partners, learning market trends and gaining knowledge on new technologies.
This year the variety of textile products produced in Uzbekistan was presented at the exhibition by ‘Uzmarkazimpex’ State Joint-Stock Foreign Trade Company, ‘Namangan Momiq Sochiqlari’, ‘Muruvvat tekstil’, ‘Bek Mega Textile’, ‘Mega Alliance Textile’ textile companies with assistance of UNDP’s ‘Aid for Trade’ Project. In addition, ‘JV Uztex Chirchik’, ‘Takro’, ‘Umka’, ‘Daka-Tex’ companies showcased their products at the separate booths.
Terry towels, knitted fabrics, cotton goods, and other expositional items of Uzbekistan promoted the idea of using only natural, environmentally friendly textiles. This aspect and high quality of products have attracted a significant number of the fair’s visitors and participants to the Uzbekistan’s booth. Moreover, Fair organizers awarded Uzmarkazimpex with a Certificate for participation with High quality products.
“It is the first time we are participating in ‘Textillegprom’ and for us it is an opportunity not only to present our products, but also to analyze the textile industry trends, assess the demand for the products, and gain a valuable experience”, said Ms. Laura Pulatova, Commercial Director of the ‘Namangan Momik sochiklari’ company, which offers products under the ‘Art Soft Tex’ brand name. – “The gained knowledge will be used to further develop our production in accordance with the market requirements and will be shared with other entrepreneurs in my community”.
According to Ms. Pulatova, at the conference dedicated to discussion of state support to the textile and light industry during economic crisis, she was able to discover marketing approaches that can help to prevent sale’s decline.
The ‘Textillegprom’ Fair is a leading specialized exhibition, which unites several showrooms, where variety of textile and light industry products are presented, including raw materials, equipment, finished goods. More than 2,500 exhibiting companies from 42 countries and more than 37,000 visitors provide high results for everyone participated.
Supporting the participation of the Uzbekistan companies at the fair, UNDP’s ‘Aid for Trade’ Project seeks to create opportunities for local businesses to enhance export capacities and improve competitiveness. The Project supports trade development that leads to expansion of domestic production, creation of new employment, and improvement of the wellbeing of the vulnerable population, especially in rural areas.
