Co-generation thermal power station to be built in Tashkent

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekenergo (Uzbek energy) is planning to build a co-generation thermal power station in Tashkent city.
The project will be implemented due to loan of Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). Within the project, it is planned to construct station with four modern gas turbine units with the capacity of 27 megawatt each at the territory, near thermal central No. 4 of Tashkent Thermal Central. The project will used modern technologies, which will decrease noise and emission to atmosphere.
The project is aimed at ensuring stable electricity supply to consumers, saving fuel-energy resources and creating new jobs.
On 10 March, a public hearings on ecological and social impact of the project was held in Tashkent, which was attended by officials of Uzbekenergo, JICA and citizens of Turkiston neighborhood.
Members of neighborhood received information on the project and its advantages. They also got answers to their questions related to the project. It is expected that another such meeting will be held in April.
