Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Government of Uzbekistan approved 14 regional programmes on protection of environment, rational use and reproduction of natural and biological resources for 2015, the press service of the State Nature Committee said.
Developed the State nature protection programmes were agreed with the Council of Ministers of Karakalpakstan, administrations of region and Tashkent city. The programme envisages measures on waste management and introduction of modern technologies of their processing, rational use and protection of biological resources and organization of protected natural resources, ecological expertise and certification, introduction of alternative sources of energy and developing activities of the funds on nature protection, etc.
The regional programmes include 689 projects, which will be implemented along with current five year action programme on environment protection. The programme also includes measures on ensuring national food security in Uzbekistan.
The programme envisages measures on increasing fish production up to 47,300 tonnes. Incubation shops will be built along natural water reservoirs. It is planned to launch fish processing plants, which will create new jobs and help to meet demands of population.
Uzbekistan will increase production of honey via creation of two bee farms at each forest farms. This will also help to develop flora. Over 56 measures will be implemented to protect and ensure rational use of biological resources in 2015. Small enterprises and joint ventures will be created to preserve bio diversity of medical herms via collection and storage of their seeds. The measures on fighting plant pests will be realized as well. New wild animals farms will be created at 25-30 hectares.
The programmes envisage measures on attraction of grants and loans of international financial institutions for US$250 million within 110 projects. The projects envisage re-equipment of enterprises, including ginneries, to meet ecological norms and requirements.
The special attention will be paid to strengthening of state ecological control in 2015 and impact of 160,000 enterprises and organizations to nature will be inspected.
In 2015, it is expected that over 20 billion soums of compensation payouts to nature protection funds will be received, which will grow by 4-5 times compared to 2014. These funds will be directed to nature protection measures and ensure food security. About 60% of funds will be directed to the state budget and 40% - nature protection funds.
