Voter turnout in Uzbek regions was between 88-92%

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Citizens of Uzbekistan showed high political activity in the presidential elections, which were held on 29 March, the data of the Central Election Commission showed.
According to the preliminary data of the CEC, over 18.928 million voters cast their ballots in the presidential elections, which makes up 91.01% from total number of registered voters.
The data of the CEC shows that voter turnout was higher than 90% in all regions of Uzbekistan, except Tashkent city (voter turnout – 88.52%) and Navoi region (89.08%).
The highest voter turnout was registered in Kashkadarya region (92.16%) and Samarkand region (92.06%). In other regions, voter turnout was between 90% and 92%.
It is worth to mention that four candidates competed in the presidential elections – from the Movement of Entrepreneurs and Businessmen - Liberal-Democratic Party of Uzbekistan – Islam Karimov, the People’s Democratic Party of Uzbekistan – Hotamjon Ketmonov, the Democratic Party of Uzbekistan "Milly Tiklanish" – Akmal Saidov and the Social-democratic party "Adolat" – Narimon Umarov.
