Ammofos-Maxam and NGMK to increase production of sulphuric acid

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan is planning to increase production of sulphuric acid at two enterprises from current 950 tonnes to 1,300 tonnes by 2020.
The Government of Uzbekistan approved measures on construction of new capacities on production of sulphuric acid at Ammofos-Maxam and Navoi Mining and Metallurgy Combine (NGMK) on 24 March 2015.
The resolution of the Cabinet of Ministry said that two enterprises will implement investment projects “Construction of new production of sulphuric acid with the capacity of 650,000 tonnes a year at Ammofos-Maxam” and “Construction of new production of sulphuric acid with the capacity of 650,000 tonnes a year at Navoi Mining and Metallurgy Combine” in 2016-2019.
At the same time, the enterprises will replace old capacities on sulphuric acid production. Current capacity of Ammofos-Maxam on sulphuric acid production is 500 tonnes and NGMK – 450 tonnes.
The projects will be financed due to own resources of the enterprises, loans of commercial banks, including foreign, as well as loan of the Fund for Reconstruction and Development of Uzbekistan.
