CIS: Presidential elections in Uzbekistan were free and open

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Presidential elections in Uzbekistan, which took place on 29 March, were free and open and meet commonly accepted democratic norms, the head of the CIS mission and the chairman of the CIS Executive Committee Sergey Lebedev said.
Lebedev said that the election fully comply with the Constitution and other legislation of Uzbekistan. They ensured right of citizens for freedom of expression.
The CIS mission chief said that the observers recorded some violations, but they were technical and did not impact to results of the elections. He said all conditions were created to ensure objective elections.
