Uzbekistan purchases modern equipment for digital TV

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan will purchase equipment for US$76.63 million to develop a network of terrestrial digital broadcasting.
The Government of Uzbekistan issued a resolution “On measures on implementation of investment project “Development of a network of terrestrial digital broadcasting in Uzbekistan” with participation of Japan Bank for International Cooperation and commercial banks of Uzbekistan”.
The resolution said that in the result of tender, Ogawa Seiki Co. Ltd (Japan) made the best offer for supply digital TV broadcasting equipment and the corresponding contract for 8.751 billion Japanese yens (US$73.63 million) was signed.
The project will be co-financed by the Japan Bank for International Cooperation in consortium with Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation. In January 2015, National Bank of Uzbekistan for Foreign Economic Activity signed a loan agreement for co-financing of the agreement.
The sum of the loan is 7.438 billion Japanese yens (US$62.59 million). The loan was issued for 12 years, including the two-year grace period. The loan will be refinanced by the National Bank of Uzbekistan. The interest rate of the loan is 2.94% APR, including margin of the refinancing rate at the size of 0.5%.
According to the Uzbek Government, Aloqabank will provide 1.312 billion Japanese yens (US$11.04 million) to realize the project. The loan will be issued in national currency for five years under interest rate of 12% APR.
