Uzbek leader holds talks with heads of South Korean companies

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov held meetings with heads of leading South Korean companies on 28 May 2015.
Uzbek leader held negations with chairperson of Lotte Group Shin Dong-Bin, President and CEO of Lotte Chemical Huh Soo Young and CEO of Korea Gas Corporation Jong-ho Lee.
Korea Gas Corporation, consortium of Lotte Chemical STX Energy are constructing Ustyurt Gas Chemical Complex on the base of Surgil gas field. The complex will process 4.5 bi
llion cubic meters of gas a year.
Lotte Group and KOGAS officials expressed interest in participation in large scale projects in Uzbekistan and invest into petrochemical, food, tourism, trade industries, purchase of shares of Uzbek companies and participate in modernization of economy of Uzbekistan.
Uzbek President Islam Karimov also held meeting with the chairman of Hanjin Group and Korean Air Cho Yang-ho.
The sides discussed issues of developing mutual beneficial cooperation and expanding intermodal logistic center Navoi, developing and implementing new joint projects.
The Government of Uzbekistan in cooperation with Korean Air created International intermodal logistic center at Navoi Airport.
The center is used as transcontinental transport-forwarding hub, linking Eastern and Sothern Eastern Asia with Europe, Middle East and the CIS.
Freight terminal has been commissioned at Navoi international airport on 12 August 2010. The terminal, as important transportation and shipping unit in logistic chain with developed infrastructure, can cover all range of transportation services in cargo receiving, storage and shipment with use of various transports.
The terminal’s capacity is up to 1,000 tonnes of freight a day and can process and store 300 tonnes of cargo and service 20 airplanes.
