UN OCHA delegation arrives in Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A delegation of the Regional Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) for Caucasus and Central Asia led by its head Marcel Vaessen arrived in Uzbekistan with a working visit.
Within the visit, the delegation held negotiations with officials of the Ministry of Emergency situations of Uzbekistan. The sides discussed issues of establishing of cooperation and exchanged opinion on priority directions on further interaction.
Marcel Vaessen told to Jahon news agency that the main goal of the mission is to attend the international seminar “Strengthening potential in issues of reacting to emergency situations”.
The event will be organized at the support of the Government of Uzbekistan and international organizations, accredited in Uzbekistan. The participants will consider various mechanisms for ensuring security in emergency situations, which can be used in Uzbekistan.
He said that it is also planned that the delegation will hold several meetings with the officials of Uzbekistan and international organizations.
Marcel Vaessen noted that at the talks with the officials of the Ministry of Emergency situations, the sides discussed priority directions of further expanding cooperation and outlined perspective directions of cooperation for next two years.
