Ministry of Labour, EU discuss implementation of joint programme

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Ministry of Labour and Social Protection of Population of Uzbekistan hosted a meeting with a delegation of the EU led by deputy head of division of European Commission on employment, social affairs and inclusion Francois Milkam on 22 June 2015, the press service of the ministry said.
At the meeting, the guests received information on mandate and activities of the ministry, its cooperation with international organizations such as KOICA, JICA, UNDP, UNICEF, ILO and World Bank.
Milkam briefed the Uzbek side on proposed programme “Development of skills for employment in rural areas of Uzbekistan”, which is directed at improving productivity of labour in rural areas and creating additional sources of income for rural population.
The delegation expressed interest in joint implementation of projects, proposed by the Ministry, on development of agribusiness, ecotourism and services in rural areas, professional orientation of college graduates, supporting start-ups of migrants, returning to rural areas.
The programme programme “Development of skills for employment in rural areas of Uzbekistan” consists of several components, envisaging institutional strengthening service infrastructure for agriculture producers, educational components for developing skills on running agribusiness, creating objects of ecotourism and developing services in rural areas.
Currently, the initiative of the European Union is developed in cooperation with the Government of Uzbekistan, beneficiary organizations and other interested people. It is expected that the program will be launched in 2015.
