Israeli Ambassador pays visit to Ferghana Valley

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Israel to Uzbekistan Carmela Shamir paid a visit to Andijan, Ferghana, Rishtan, Margelan and Qoqand on 17-19 June.
Within the visit, she held a meeting with the Governor of Ferghana region Shukhrat Ganiev. The sides considered opportunities of attracting Israeli businesses and perspectives of creating joint ventures.
She also visited the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Ferghana region, where the envoy familiarized with one-stop-shop system. The system simplifies activities of the entrepreneurs.
In Ferghana, Ambassador met officials of Association of beekeepers of Ferghana region, which has been cooperating with MASHAV department under Israeli Embassy for several years.
Carmela Shamir met with head of the department of economic development of Andijan regional administration and head of the regional Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The sides considered perspectives of further cooperation in agriculture and participation in MASHAV courses in Israel.
Israeli Ambassador also visited historic centers of Ferghana Valley such as Rishtan, Margilan and Qoqand.
In Rishtan, Carmela Shamir visited the workshop of famous ceramist, the academician Sharofiddin Yusupov. The master gave a master class and presented his book devoted to the famous pottery of Rishtan to the Ambassador.
The cultural program of the visit also consisted of a visit to the center of handicrafts Ikat.uz, factory "Yodgorlik" and silk factory in Margilan, regional museum in Qoqand.
