Uzbekistan introduces additional duties for import from Ukraine

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan will introduce additional duties for import of goods, produced in Ukraine, from 1 July 2015, the President of Association Ukrkondprom Aleksandr Baldynuk said at his Facebook page, posting image of the resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Uzbekistan.
According to resolution, from 1 July 2015 Uzbekistan sets additional duties at the size of 5% or 10% based on group of goods at import from Ukraine.
The resolution of the Government of Uzbekistan said that the additional duty will be calculated based on customs price of the goods.
The decision on introduction of additional duty was adopted in connection with adoption of the law “On measures on stabilization of budget balance of Ukraine in line with article XII of General agreement on tariffs and trade 1994” and introduction of additional import duties. Cabinet of Ukraine introduced additional duties for imports at the size of 5-10% for 2015.
Aleksandr Baldynuk said that if Ukraine will abolish duties as promised soon, the Uzbek rules will be in force till the end of 2016. He said that other Central Asian nations, which are important market for Ukraine, also are following actions of Uzbekistan and this precedent can be dangerous.
