Parliamentary delegation of Poland holds talks at Uzbek parliament

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A parliamentary delegation of Poland led by Vice-Speaker of the Sejm Jerzy Venderlih held meetings at the parliament of Uzbekistan.
Deputy Speaker of the Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan Sarvar Otamuratov welcomed the guests, the press service of the lower house of the Uzbek parliament said.
At the meeting, it was said that cooperation between Uzbekistan and Poland are based on mutual respect and trust. Economic, investment, educational, cultural and humanitarian relations are developing gradually. Over 30 inter-governmental and inter-departmental agreements serve as legal base for interaction between two states.
Uzbekistan is one of important economic partners of Poland in Central Asia. In 2014, bilateral trade turnover exceeded US$166 million. Uzbekistan exports cotton products, textile and chemical goods, as well as mineral products.
The sides underlined that the inter-parliamentary relations also help to expansion of bilateral cooperation. The guests received information on reforms in Uzbekistan, role of parliament in public-political life.
The delegation of Poland briefed the Uzbek side on activities of Polish parliament and expressed readiness to further development of inter-parliament cooperation with Uzbekistan.
