Uzbekistan to introduce new import duties for some goods from 1 Sep

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan sets new rates of import duties and excise tax for some products from 1 September 2015.
The Government of Uzbekistan issued a resolution “On further measures on ordering foreign trade activities in Uzbekistan”.
The resolution was adopted to create favourable conditions for sustainable development of local producers of ready products, competitive in internal and external markets.
The resolution approved rates of import duties and excise tax for some goods, which are imported into Uzbekistan, from 1 September 2015.
The Government of Uzbekistan, in particular, set import duty for meat and meat products from pigs and poultry at the size of up to 30% from customs cost of the product, but not less than US$1 per kg.
The duty for milk and concentrated cream in powder, granules or other solid forms, with a fat content of not more than 1.5% is set at 10% of the customs value, but not less than US$0.3 per kg. Previously, the rate was 5%, but not less than $ 0.15 per kilogram.
The Government also set import duties for apples and pears at the size of 30% of customs value, but not less than US$0.4 per kg.
New import for almonds, hazelnuts and other nuts is set at 30% of the customs value, but not less than $1.5 per kg. Previously, the rate was set at 30%, but not less than $ 1 per kg.
The resolution also set new import duties for products from plastics, rubber, clothing, footwear, ceramic products, black metal, and articles thereof, other vehicles (tractors, vehicles for the transport of goods), etc.
