Uzbek leader signs law “On the sanitary-epidemiological welfare of population”

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov signed a law “On the sanitary-epidemiological welfare of population” on 26 August 2015,
The Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan passed the law on 15 July 2015 and the Senate passed it on 6 August 2015. The document came into force on 27 August.
The law, intended to replace the current Law “On state sanitary supervision” from 1992, is aimed at improving the current requirements with the legal framework of the sanitary and epidemiological welfare of the country, further development of disease prevention, preservation and promotion of public health, implementation of sanitary norms and rules.
The law also provides organizational and legal mechanisms for participation of civil society in the definition and implementation of sanitary and epidemiological requirements to the maintenance areas, facilities, buildings, organizations, and other objects.
The law said that self-governing bodies and NGOs can participate in realization of state, territorial and other programmes of sanitary-epidemiological welfare of population and provide help in realization of sanitary-hygienic and antiepidemic events.
The document said that the habitations should meet sanitary rules and hygienic norms. It is banned to citizens to live premises, which do not meet sanitary rules and hygienic norms.
According to the document, tenants are required to comply with the rules of maintenance of yard, adjacent territories and the use of premises approved by the public authorities in the field.
The law underlined that it is necessary to conduct measures to ensure hygienic literacy of population to promote healthy lifestyle.
