Uzbekistan appoints head of Regional Secretariat of CBRN Centers

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Government of Uzbekistan appointed the head of the Regional Secretariat of chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear centres of excellence for Central Asia.
According to the resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers, head of the state inspection Sanoatgeokontehnazorat is head of the Regional Secretariat. Currently, Bakhtiyor Gulyamov heads the inspection.
Director of Commission of the European Union Technical Assistance Programme National Unit will be national coordinator (NCU) of the Regional Secretariat. Currently, the NCU is headed by Jamshed Sharipov.
The resolution said that Sanoatgeokontehnazorat will ensure coordination of cooperation of the state bodies with the Regional Secretariat.
Sanoatgeokontehnazorat and NCU in cooperation with ministries and departments were entrusted to determine structure of national working groups and national experts on chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear materials in line with the resolution.
On 18 May 2015, Uzbekistan and United Nations Interregional Crime and Justice Research Institute signed a memorandum of establishing and functioning of the Regional secretariat of the centers of advanced experience on chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear materials for Central Asia in Tashkent. The document was signed in Brussels. The regional center was opened in July 2015.
In line with the memorandum, the United Nations Interregional Crime and Justice Research Institute provides financial resources to cover expenses, related to operation of the Regional Secretariat of chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear centres of excellence for Central Asia.
