SCO RATS discuss issues of fighting terrorism

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 22 October, the Executive Committee of the Regional Anti-Terrorist Structure (RATS) of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) hosted the third scientific-practical conference on issues of cooperation of international terrorism and extremism among the SCO member states and observer states of the organization.
Member states of the SCO – Kazakhstan, China, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, and observer states – Afghanistan, India, Belarus, Iran, Pakistan and Mongolia, SCO Secretariat, the UN Counter-terrorism committee, the UN Regional Center for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia (UNRCCA), the OSCE, the CIS Anti-Terrorism Center.
Further deepening regional cooperation, strengthening practical interaction in fighting terrorism coild ensure stability and security in the region.
The sides exchanged opinion on establishing practical interaction in the sphere of fighting terrorism in the SCO format. The sides agreed that the SCO reached significant achievements in sphere of strengthening of partnership relations.
The sides agreed to achieve substantial results in strengthening partnership in fight against terrorism.
As a result of the conference, the joint communiqué was adopted.
The protocol on cooperation in fight against terrorism was signed between the Regional Anti-Terrorist Structure of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and the Mongolian Anti-Terrorist Coordinating Council.
The working meetings were held among Director of the SCO RATS Executive Committee Zhang Xinfeng and the head of the Iranian delegation, UNRCCA, the CTC Executive Directorate and others. The issues of further intensification of the practical anti-terrorist actions, as well as the process of formalizing cooperation were discussed during the meetings.
